There is plenty of space, not only on top of the bed but underneath as well where there is a full 10 1/2 inches which you will find useful for storing a lot of those things that you cannot find a home for anywhere else.
When you fit on the mattress it just sits on top of the frame as there is no recessed area for it to drop into. The bed is 15 inches off the ground before the mattress goes on.
What is included?
You will receive two boxes which include the pieces which are easy to assemble. They are all made in the U.S.A. of southern yellow pine wood. A special tool is needed to put it all together but that comes in one of the boxes. There is no mattress or bedding included with it.
