Many people complain of problems with their backs, sometimes this is after sports or sitting in the same position at work every day but a shocking statistic of eight out of ten people in the UK having back trouble of some sort means it is clearly a big problem. One of the key factors that can contribute to the problems people experience and that is their beds.
Sleeping in a bed that is not supportive enough or too rigid can be a major irritant for muscle and joint pain. Whilst the use of special orthopaedic mattresses and motorized beds is well documented as being able to help one thing that many people forget to consider is the actual size of your bed. Even double beds can actually be too small in some cases, such as two people sleeping in the same bed.

Most small double beds are not best suited to two people because you need adequate moving space for during your sleep. If you don't then there's a good chance you and your partner could be constantly knocking into each other waking one another up in the middle of the night. Also the impression you make on the mattress could affect the springs on your partners side with some mattresses.
Some mattresses known as single coil sprung can be a nightmare for two people to share as any movement the other person makes can affect the other bed occupant. Likewise a poorly sprung mattress can create peaks and troughs, the trouble with this is that unwittingly you'll both roll into the troughs in the mattress which could mean mid-night collisions again waking you up and disturbing your sleep.
Some people are better off buying a bigger bed so that they have more room to move in their sleep as during their sleep they will move around to get comfortable. But sometimes a bigger bed can cause a problem, some bedrooms may be dwarfed by the size of some king and queen size beds. You should try and get a bed that is big enough to comfortable accommodate you both but also isn't going to dominate your room leaving precious little space for any other furniture such as drawers and wardrobes.
Some beds come in slightly differing sizes and heights so you can still get the impression of space by purchasing the right bed for your room's size and shape. Bigger beds can be better for your back but you should be careful it doesn't prove unwise when you look at the rest of your room.
